How to plan a multimedia project editor's note:

In the past few decades, people are no longer satisfied with using static images and words to communicate, especially affected by the effect of moving pictures in movies and television, people pay less and less attention to a single picture when exchanging information, so they need to find a new way of information exchange. The emergence of computers makes this idea come true. First, computers realize the automatic movement of still pictures. In recent years, the addition of more new technologies has enriched this way. The integration of various media forms shows a real multimedia interactive platform

so how to meet the needs of users through such a multimedia interactive platform? For example, if a company needs to make information into a CD-ROM, it should first understand several problems before starting to make it, otherwise there may be some rework and other troubles in the subsequent work, which should be avoided at the beginning of the design

so before designing a multimedia application, we should first pay attention to all the details and clarify how users use this program. This article will describe in detail the points to be done, hoping to be used for reference

note: Although most of the suggestions in this article are for Macromedia director to make software, in fact, they can also be applied to other types of multimedia projects

first, how to make a project plan

the first thing to do is to work with the customer to determine all the contents of the project, its main concerns, and make a project plan, which helps to clarify what media to use, what content to transmit, and how to arrange these contents in subsequent work

we know that every multimedia project we do is different, so we should try to get as much information from customers before making it, so as to ensure that the project meets the needs of customers. If possible, ask the customer to outline all topics. If the customer provides relevant words and images at the same time, be sure to sort them out. After collecting these information and documents, we began to work out a flow chart, from which we can see which titles are included in the multimedia works, which ones will be expanded, and how the navigation structure for interactive operation works

due to the different nature of multimedia projects, the above is the basic points at the beginning of the work, not the specific work rules. After determining all the main titles and branches, you can quickly understand the relationship between the parts, and then decide where to start the specific production. This order can be nonlinear, that is, you can do the first part first, or you can do it last. Of course, this kind of nonlinear operation is likely to bring trouble to those careless people. For example, when connecting the contents of each part at the end, the order is wrong, and we should not spend time and effort to find the error. Without a clear flow chart for reference, even very skilled programmers will inevitably make mistakes, because there are too many content boxes and links to add

then if you can ask, why not make the program completely according to linearity? There are two reasons:

(1) in the real process, customers may change their minds at any time, and new content may be added even at the last minute

(II) nonlinear operation allows us to work in any order, that is, we don't have to wait until all parts of the materials are complete before starting work, so as not to waste time

2. Manuscript, flow chart, script box

for programmers, the most useful tools for making multimedia are manuscript, flow chart and script box

manuscript: it mainly explains the story to be included in the work in the form of text. Its function is like a movie script. It is to explain the content of each part, mark the audio and video files to be used, and provide the text to appear on the screen and the manuscript to be read by the dubbing actor

flow chart: it is the best basis for determining the navigation structure. It also helps to clarify how the parts are connected. According to the flow charts depicted in these paper or computer files, we can see whether some parts of the content are left behind, or whether some links are different from the original plan

third, clarify the characteristics of the target user

who should be the user of this multimedia program? It is crucial to clarify this point, because the capabilities and needs of different user groups are different, and the program design must be based on the characteristics of the target users. For example, if the user group is a computer expert, you can use more new technologies and skills. If users are not familiar with computers, they should focus on the arrangement of navigation structure as much as possible, so that users can use it as easily as possible. If users are very conservative, it is obvious that bright colors are not attractive to them... In short, the characteristics of the target users should be reflected in the production process

IV. describe the system configuration requirements

in the production process, it is also necessary to explain the user's system configuration requirements. Because users have different configurations when running multimedia, some are fully equipped PIII, and some use 486 with very small memory. Obviously, not all configurations can successfully run their own multimedia programs, so the manufacturer must make corresponding configuration instructions. The specific contents include the following aspects:

· CPU, which determines the speed of information and data processing

· ram, memory determines the speed of file download and the smoothness of operation

· sound card, which is used to run audio files in multimedia

· graphics accelerator card to better play graphics and video images

· monitor (video display unit), good video effect usually reaches 800 × 600 or 1024 × 768 resolution

v. fully consider the needs of different media

if users want the images in multimedia works to be usable, but the development prospect of this technology makes people yearn for a variety of media, such as print, video CD-ROM, graphics, etc., producers should prepare in advance and comprehensively consider the requirements of multiple media. For example, generally, the resolution standard of printed matter is 300dpi, and the video standard of CD-ROM is 72dpi. If the produced image should appear in the form of printing and be made into CD-ROM, the image resolution should not be less than 300dpi in the design, because it is easy to reduce the resolution of 300dpi to 72dpi, and the reverse is almost impossible

VI. file: platform, collection, type

before deciding what kind of file to use, it is best to find out what operating platform the user wants to run the program on, MAC or PC, or other, and what mechanism to use to report the operating system. If using PC, windows3.1, windows95/98 or NT. What matters is whether there is a conversion between operating platforms and whether you want end users to run under a mac/pc compatible system

multimedia producers are often not the only one in the process from the beginning of the program to the completion. Many times, some design work has been completed before. Customers want to add these contents to the new program, and sometimes customers want to add a company logo or something. No matter what the situation is, what the producer should do is to communicate with the above collaborators and clarify two points: first, how to store the above documents, picf, tiff or BMP? The second is the type of media they provide, CD-R, zip or Jaz

VII. Manage movies and their roles well

to improve work efficiency, we should manage all movies and their "role members" from the beginning, that is, digital resources and their attributes, and keep their systems in order. In this way, when one of them is needed, we don't have to look for it one by one without a clue. The specific methods are as follows:

· name each role member, such as "homepage chain", "if the import of waste paper continues to decrease after f2019, AQ key"

· bring similar members together

· put the roles to be used in the same part together

· multi roles work together

· put common images that can also be used in other multimedia together as external roles, so that when they are used elsewhere, You can connect directly to external roles

VIII. User settings

from the beginning of work, there is a series of user equipment work to be done. First of all, the stage size should be set according to the requirements of customers. In the past, the single standard was 640 × 480pixels, now, with the emergence of higher resolution and the improvement of user requirements, there is no longer any standard size. What the manufacturer should do is to set it according to the requirements of customers

set the stage size:

· select "movie" from the "modify" menu

· select "properties" from the pop-up menu , the movie prop window will pop up

· input the extreme value in the first area to set the current stage size

there is a follow-up menu in the first interface, including several commonly used sizes. If these cannot meet the requirements, you can enter holding parameters on the right to determine the height and width. When operating in this interface, the producer will notice that when the input parameter is not the preset value, the text in the drop-down menu will be automatically converted to the new setting set by the customer

the next step is to set the position of the stage, which is on the same floor as the stage size. Similarly, the producer can select a preset position or set specific position parameters. It is suggested that the producer does not need to change the position of the display area, but let it be in the middle, because when the display area is placed aside, one or more side areas may be hidden outside the user's screen, and when placed in the middle, the user can see it no matter what size of the display is used, because the image is displayed in the middle

the most basic setting in this window is the stage color, that is, the background color of the display area. To change the stage color, click the "stage color" color table, which is located in the "movie properties" window. Click it to display a palette, and then select your favorite background color. For users whose display resolution is higher than the program setting value, you can use an option in director to remove the background color and fill the edge of the application, so that users will no longer see anything on the windows desktop. When the producer has finished making the movie and packaging, you can choose this option to cover the desktop background around the program. The following steps are to use this option:

· select "create projector" from the "file" menu, and then the "create projector" dialog box appears

· click the "option" key, The "projector option" dialog box appears

· select the "fuu screen" full screen item in the "option" option

· click OK

none of the above work is completed and saved, and you can play your multimedia program in full screen at any time. If the resolution of the monitor is higher than the resolution set by the program, the program will play in a window, and the rest of the desktop will be covered by the previously selected stage color
